Great for busy websites!
Our company uses 1&1 to host our mid-size portal with about 2 million hits monthly. We decided to go with this company after a deep research of the market. Although we use 1&1 for a short period of time (approximately ~4 months) I cannot say anything bad about services they provide. I have experienced quick support and no downtimes. 1&1 became a good solution for us.

I recommend 1&1 to everyone!
I used another company (I would not put their name here since they refunded my money), and it looked like a great deal: large space, unlimited traffic, etc. But all promises resulted in poor services and downtimes. There’s no such thing as a free lunch, Calvin, you have to pay a higher fee for a superior service.

A little higher fees but excellent hosting provider.
I use it to host my wordpress blog and for my mail. It works fine for me. However pricing is a little high. Overall they provide good services.
